Updates on us!

You know. I just had the best day. We went to the gym, took the kids to the park. I got to go to the grocery store by myself! Then we had a birthday party at our neighbors house which turned into a pizza party with drinks that night. The kids just had a blast..I had a blast and I just LOVE my neighborhood. The way the houses are set up..it really enables you to be social and do things like inpromptu (sp) playdates and cookouts. It is a really heaven for me. I also was able to get a pedicure today! HURRAY! SO fun! I have my 15 year high school reunion next weekend and needed one badly.

Ok, time for updates.

Anna is full throdle. She speaks in full sentences, sprints every where she goes and is non stop energy. I need to go and buy her a field hockey and lacrosse stick and try and start teaching her fun sports. She is high energy and always skins her poor knees. She also finally knows her alphabet and can count to 30! I think she might even know colors now. Well, maybe the main ones. I don't think that she will be like Scott but at least she is learning some things. I was getting a little nervous for a while thinking she might be color blind or something. Everything was green for a while there. It was really funny! Scott annoys the crap out of her all the time trying to teach her things. Every morning over the monitor you hear him trying. It is really funny. It cracks me up every time. She also loves to sing and can tell you what some instruments are. I think it is from her "teacher" brother but it is still cool. I am not saying that she is brilliant by any means. She has just shown no signs of actually wanting to know things and it appears to be happening a bit more now. So yay Anna! I still am holding out for her to by my athelete!

Scooter....you know some days I think that things will be fine and he really isn't what every one says that he is. I think how there are a ton of smart kids out there and this is just not a big deal and then BAM, he does something that blows me away. Dave taught him division the other day in the car on the way to school. He taught him how to do it verbally and Scott just rolled with it. Scott will say "ok mom, I have 40 cookies and there are four of us in the family. How many cookies will each of us need to make sure we all have the same amount." I will say "I don't know....2?" He will say "NOPE, 10!" Are you kidding me? Is my 4 year old really doing division problems in his head by way of word problems etc???? Um, really? What am I suppose to do when he goes to kindergarten and when they say "your child will be counting to 30 by the end of the year." Do I say "by 30s or up to 30?" We really have our work cut out for us. Scott has been reading since he was 2 1/2-3 years old. You guys have heard all of this..it just freaks me out when my kid is doing things as a 4 year old that I got held back in 3rd grade for.
-Multiplication
-spelling
-reading
-word problems
-addition/subtraction by multiple numbers
-rounding off
-counting by 2s, 3s, 4s, 10s, 25s etc
-money
-geography

What am I going to do with him next year?? Can his needs really be met? I know we moved to Chapel Hill because they are the best in the state for this stuff. I know that they will help us along with his psychologist but when you really think about it..it will freak you out. It is a huge responsibility for us as parents to make sure he is happy and content. The boy does workbook pages from a 2nd and 3rd grade work book for fun.

I have no idea what is going to happen but I do have a few wishes. I really hope that he continues to love learning. I really hope that he continues to be a nice boy and be kind to others and not boss people around because he knows things that other kids have not learned yet. I sooo hope that he stays humble. We work really hard on this stuff and I hope he is able to do this when we are not around. I also hope that he is able to be fullfilled and continue to want to push himself and learn things because it is a huge gift. What he does is a gift and I just hope that he does not waist it when he grows up. That is one of my big time fears. Ok, once again it is the Scott's show. It is just completely mind boggling at times. It really blows me away...

Dave - he looks fantastic. He has lost 45 lbs since Scott was born. He is so cute I can't even stand it. I do not have a picture of him and need to take one. I will do that soon. I have one picture but I can not save it to my computer. It is from his last 10K race. I love it! Also, Dave will sing in his last wedding that is planned at the end of May. He is doing the full mass and singing 9 songs along with Ave Maria..O M G! I am going to ball listening to him do it. He is so talented and it blows me away every time. I just love it. I wish so much that I could record it.

Me- I am the same. I struggle with the last lbs but don't go 100%. I mainly just want to tone what I have and be happy with it. I love my friends around here and stay super busy. I am almost finished with some church stuff..yay...tomorrow is my last day. That will give me a bit of a breather. I am one of the Youth Directors and we have our last event tomorrow. What else... I am running again! I guess i don't have much else to say about me. I pray every day that I will not lose patience with Anna. My back is spasming because she is so defiant. I think that is about it. love to all!

Thanks for all the updates, Katy! Scott is just so awesome. I think you and Dave are doing a fantastic job with him and his gifts! Anna is a riot! I think she and Kee would get along famously!
