A funny from the past

I may not admitt it often, but Dave Gilliam is funny. Sometimes it throws me off how funny he is! I was going through old emails today and came across this wonderful announcement from him. He sent this to all of his friends announcing that we were going to have another child.

April 20, 2005

To borrow words from my favorite pop icon, my idol, the immortal Britt-neh Spears, “Oops, I did it again.”

What the heck am I talking about? Here’s a riddle:

Question: What do my wife and Britt-neh have in common (other their shared belief that I’m the sexiest man alive)?

Drumroll…..

Wait for it……..

Isn’t this irritating?

I’ve had a bad day, cut me some slack…………

Answer: They’re both knocked up, although so far I can only prove that one of the babies is mine.

Yup, ladies and gentlemen, we have once again succeeded in creating life, and not the kind that grows in my coffee cups at work. Indeed, if all goes well Katy and I will be bringing yet another unfortunate soul into a world that is so beseeched by evil that even Coach Kry#*kadfajhweuadaxdfasdfa;dlfj($*$@-ski has his own TV commercials (get on the ball).

That’s right, if you’ve ever endured 40 weeks of pregnancy with nausia, 20 hours or so of ACTIVE labor and gone weeks and weeks without sleeping more than a few hours at a time, you would know that it makes PERFECT sense to rush right back into it. For the mathematicians in the audience, parenthood != any logical thought.

All kidding aside (does that ever happen?), we are SUPER excited to be expecting again. Note my use of the term expecting? I’ve now been properly trained to say WE are expecting, not WE are pregnant. Katy is pregnant. There’s no mistaking that.

It’s still all very early and whatnot but the baby (gender unknown) has received a clean bill of health thus far so I wanted to share the good news. The due date is Thanksgiving Day and we’ll pass along the gender once we know.

Here are a couple pictures of our other little (BIG) one, Scott. He’s almost 2 now and we’re beginning to understand what exactly that really means. The parents in the audience will understand.

Anywho, love you all.

Anna's first report card.

Some highlights of Anna's achievements are:
Anna plays cooperatively with other children (meaning she engages with others in play that is meaningful and has a common purpose).
Anna's social interactions are frequently positive. She enjoys playing with others and understands positive social behaviors like "sharing" and "waiting your turn". Anna will also work cooperatively with others to complete a task such as building a tower or cleaning up.
Both Anna's fine and gross motor skills are right on track!
Anna has mastered self-help skills like hand-washing, pulling up underwear and pants, and putting on her jacket.
Anna has a great vocabulary and good diction.
Anna is able to communicate well about non-present situations (for example, telling a story about something that happened in the past.)
Anna follows two-step directions well, and is working on following multi-step directions.
Some things to work with Anna on are:
Finding her "assertive" voice. Like a lot of three-year-olds, Anna often uses a quiet, "whiny" voice to communicate wants and requests. Helping her find a voice that is loud enough to be heard and firm enough to be listened to is something we have been working on at school. A great way to encourage Anna to use an assertive tone is to model what the request would sound like in that tone and then have her repeat it back to you.
Following two- and three-step directions. One way we encourage following multi-step directions at school is listing the steps and having the children repeat them back. for example, "First put your coats in your cubbies, second sit down on a lilly pad... What do you do first?.. And then?".
Anna is truly a delight to have in class. Whether it be cruising the playground on her favorite bike or breaking out her dance moves to "Five Little Monkeys", she never fails to make me smile. You should be proud of your amazing little girl - God has blessed you with someone very special.

Mother's Day Eve

I just do not think it gets any better then this. I have adorable children. (Yes, I am completely biased.) I have a kind and loving husband a super cool neighborhood and a lifetime of wonderful friends.
Happy could describe me these days.

Did I mention cute children?

Madras goes with everything

I think it is time to invest in some athletic attire. For someone (me) who played sports her whole life and spends 99% of her days in athletic clothes, you would think I would have some for my child!
This week, I will be making an effort to get Scooter some appropriate athletic clothes. I promise that I will not monogram them or put some sort of themed applique on the shirt. I will go out and get real T's and real running shorts so he can be a big kid!
I do have to say. IT IS AWESOME that he loves basketball! It is fan-super-tastic that Scott can make baskets from almost anywhere in and out of the paint! I might be gloating but it makes my heart smile.

Walking to the beat of your own drum.

If it rains, you might as well dance in your ninnies.
I am pretty sure that this picture will resurface around the time Anna has her Rehearsal Dinner.
Could life get any more fun then this?

Boy Meets Girl

Mrs. Jenny Zsuppan is officially Scooters first grade school crush. Jenny is Scott's assistant Kindergarten teacher. I am proud of him because she is stable, got a good head on her shoulders, mature and knows who she is. She sounds like the best candidate to fall in love with. Unfortunatly, I think that she may be out of his league.

There is a cute story from Scott at school that Jenny actually shared with me this week. Evidently, the girls in Scott's class appear to have little crushes on him. One of the girls had a hard time keeping her hands off of him one day. She would rub her hands through his hair, rub his cheecks and so on. Jenny turned to this sweet child and said
"lets give Scott some space, ok?" The little girl turned to Jenny and said "but he is SOOOO cute."

Ahhh, first loves.

Slipidy Slip Slip

Do you remember the joy of Summer peaking its head around the corner? We do and it happened last week! We had 90 degree weather. So what do you do in 90 degree weather??? SLIP N SLIDE!
We had a wonderful time pulling this out. The children now ask to do it every day!
Being a kid is so fun! I think I am ready to go back in time.

Friday friend day!

Throughout the Spring, Anna and Laura have shared a babysitter every Friday. Anna looked forward to this playdate every week! I am afraid to tell her that last week was her last week. She might be crushed. We may have to figure a way to continue the playdate in some way.
The girls are definitely BFF!
Could they be any cuter? I am not sure it is possible.

What is it mommy?

We are all walking to Tennis the other day when Anna stops to look at this little spot on the ground. Ohhh mommy! Look! What is it??? I think, look how cute she is crouched down looking at this tiny thing on the ground. I have to take a picture because she is so cute. As I walk up to what my little angel is looking at, I find that it isn't a cute little tiny thing on the ground. It is actually a present that a dog left for us.
Nice!

She still looks darling crouched down even if she is looking at poopie.

New beginnings

You have to love a new beginning. We have decided to join Chapel of the Cross and have never looked back. Scott has already joined the Cantus Choir while Anna is thrilled to be able to go to Sunday School and Children's Chapel! They both love their new friends and some old friends that have joined the church as well! This will be our church home for many years to come. You gotta love a place where you feel welcomed and loved.

Walk on ....

We walk on because we can not walk away. The Pink Pacers had their last meeting before the big walk in DC this May.

I am honored to walk with these ladies and with the ladies that we have walked with in the past. What an inspiring group. It could not get any better then this.

Springtime at Yonahlossee .....

Our Sweet Laney. The most beautiful God Daughter in the world.

Silly Girl

Pink Pacer in training

Ahhh, you have to just love the mountains in the spring. We decided to go with the Kaleys to Yonahlossee and it was so nice to be with them again. Not only is our God Daugther the most beautiful little thing in the world but Scott and Anna and Laney had an absolute blast together. It is as if they knew they were family and they just fit. Nothing is better then good friends, beautiful weather and smiling little faces. I guess you can't forget bubbles too.

Mommy is 21...I mean, 35!

I thought that this was a fantastic picture! Guess what I got for my birthday from Nannie and Grandad.....a new camera! I must say...you can not beat nice camera. The pictures are so clear! I am in love.
Legally Blond the Musica...OMG you guys! So much F-U-N!

I had a wonderful birthday this year! I was spoiled by my favorite people, got to see Leagally Blond the Musical and then got to go out to dinner with close friends. It was just perfect! Now if I could learn how to take the "beauty" lines off of my face! It appears that I am now really starting to look my age. I have to say that this does not settle well with me!
