I walk for Mrs. Edmonds

Scott's teacher is Mrs. Edmonds. She is 29 years old and a 1 year Breast Cancer survivor. When we came into the school year, she was facing a double masectomy and radiation. She is an amazing teacher and has an incredibly strong spirit. Mrs. Edmonds came to school every day with a a smile on her face and a huge amount of love for our children. I feel so blessed to have her in our life.

Below are pictures of a suprise walk that we did for Mrs. Edmonds. It is the end of the year and Christine, another Pink Pacer, and I decided that we could not let the school year end without recognizing the how amazing she was this year. The children decorated race bibs and wore them on their backs like we do in our actual walk. Mrs. E had no idea that we were going to honor her in this way. I think that we were able to thank her in a way that was subtle and meaningful. When she walked out of the office the children belted out "We are walking for YOU!" It was a heartwarming moment.

Scott was so proud to walk for his wonderful teacher.

Thank you Mrs. E for showing me that we have to keep walking because we are and WILL make a difference.

The 70s called and

they want their hair back.

Scott's school has spirit week the last full week of school. Thursday of that week was Silly Hair Day. Lucky for Scott, his daddy had a few fun wigs hidden in his closet! This is the Avon Walk Richard Simmons wig.

Yep, thats right..Richard Simmons.

Church Picnic

Just in case you did not know, her name is Anna! That was the biggest name tag EVah! I still thought the picture was super cute and had to share my sweet girl. This was our first Pentecost Picnic with Chapel of the Cross. As I have mentioned before, we LOVE our new church. We feel so much more at home here then ever at the other place that will not be named. I do, however, miss our wonderful church family..the Bowersox. Thank Goodness we know we will always be friends with them so it will be OK.

Scott is just precious. This picture just makes my heart melt because he is so sweet. The Cantus choir sang before we ate at the picnic. It was super sweet and I love watching him sing. I think that Anna will be right behind him and it will be one musical family. (excpet for mommy, of course!)

It was a Marbles kind of day!

It was a Marbles kind of day last week when Scott's Kindergarten classes got to go to the Marbles Museum in Raleigh, Nc. They had a blast and I had so much fun chasing them around the place. I am not sure they stayed put for longer then 1 minute anywhere. Scott has the greatest little class and I can not believe it is ending in just a few short days! Scott's first year of Elementary School FLEW by. Soon, we will have an official first grader. Crazy!

Wahoowa Wahoowa Nannie left Virgineeaaa.

It is true, Nannie and Grandad have left Virginia and are getting ready to settle into Chapel Hill. One of their last nights out to dinner with their good friends left them with a new addition to Grandad's car. Needless to say, Dave and Grandad had the same reaction. Nannie may have a hard time seperating herself from the Wahoo's but I am pretty sure Grandad is ready to be in "God's Country" as they call it here.

Super Surprise Friday

We decided to start being better parents by surprising out children with a night out! They had no idea what we were doing until the show started! When Big Bird started talking over the loud speaker Scott and Anna's faces LIT up! They were so excited. We took them to Sesame Street live. They could not believe that the characters of the show were actually there! It was a fun event and we look forward to finding more shows to go to!

When we go to the RBC Center, we had Anna and Scott take a picture with Elmo. Scott can read perfectly and he still did not know what he was getting ready to see. If you look behind Anna there was a pretty big clue! They were not very observant which made it super easy to continue the secret until showtime!
